Restaurant Report: Three restaurants closed for roach violations

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Health inspectors temporarily shut down three restaurants this week, and all three have roaches in common.

Action News visited Tuptim Thai Restaurant in Ponte Vedra Beach. Health inspectors found more than 20 live roaches, roach droppings in the kitchen and cold food held too warm. An employee at the restaurant said the owner changed pest control companies and had the entire place sprayed before another inspection allowed it to reopen.

At Hot Wok on Argyle Forest Boulevard, health inspectors saw live roaches, dead roaches and food not marked with the time it was made. It was temporarily shut down.

Health inspectors also temporarily closed the Burger King on University Boulevard West. During an inspection, live roaches were seen in the kitchen, along with a black mold-like substance on or around the ice-dispensing nozzles and a lack of toilet tissue in restrooms.
