None — ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are tracking the man believed to have information on the whereabouts of a missing woman from St. John's County.
Friends say Brittany Tavar loved her dogs. Now her friends are keeping a close watch on the dog, while police look for her. "I want closure," said her friend Dave.
Police believe finding Tavar's two dogs in South Carolina helped them track Joseph Roberts. They believe he knows something about her disappearance because there are pictures of Tavar and Roberts at a neighborhood party, just before she vanished.
Now we have new information on how police are trying to find him. They're tracking every thing he buys and so is Action News. Here's how things map out right now. On July 6th, around noon, tavar talked to a friend. It was the last time she was heard from. That night, police say Roberts got gas in St Augustine.
Two days later on July 8th, he got gas in South Carolina and again later in North Carolina. On July 10th, Tavar's dogs were found in South Carolina. Later that same day at 11:38 pm mountain time, Roberts was pulled over for speeding in Wyoming.
The next day, Roberts made a lot of stops. Most of them were to get gas and money in Idaho. Police have proof he made a stop at a Walmart in Oregon. There are surveillance pictures from the Oregon Walmart where he purchased clothes and a tent. Police know he's driving Tavar's Rav 4 and she's not in it.
While police search for Tavar, her friends are trying to stay optimistic. "I think the worst and hope for the best," said her friend Dave.
The sheriff's office isn't saying if Roberts is using Tavar's credit card or one of his own. Police have referred to Roberts as a transient. We do know Tavar's brother tracks her money very closely. He is the sole trustee for her trust fund and puts money in her account every month.
Tavar's family is offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to her whereabouts. You're asked to call police with information.
