NASHVILLE — Authorities in Nashville have determined a dog was at the center of an argument that erupted in gunfire early Sunday morning, leaving eight people wounded.
Update 5:42 p.m. EST Nov. 8: The Metropolitan Nashville Police said in a statement that two men exchanged gunfire at around 1 a.m. Sunday after “arguing over a dog that was with one of the men."
According to NBC News, the man with the dog reportedly pulled a gun out during the argument.
“The second suspect then left but returned a few minutes later armed with a gun and accompanied by several other men,” police stated.
Although police have not identified any of the suspects in the dispute or announced any charges stemming from the altercation, they did confirm none of the injuries sustained by any of the victims was considered life-threatening, NBC News reported.
All of the patients were alert and able to speak with first responders when they were taken to the hospital, Nashville Fire Department Community Services Manager Joseph Pleasant told The Tennessean via email.
The dog was also shot in the hip during the altercation, Pleasant told the Tennessean, noting a bystander took the dog to an emergency veterinarian from the scene.
