NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country singer Lee Brice has tested positive for the coronavirus and will not be appearing in this year’s CMA Awards show, his representative said.
Brice was set to perform with Carly Pearce during Wednesday night’s show in Nashville, Tennessee, Billboard reported. They were nominated for their duet “I Hope You’re Happy Now” for musical event of the year and music video of the year. The song also topped the country airplay charts this year, Variety reported.
A representative for Brice told The Associated Press on Sunday that the “I Don’t Dance” singer is “in good spirits and not experiencing any symptoms.”
Brice will self-isolate at his home until he is cleared, his representative said.

A CMA spokesperson told the AP that Brice had been tested and received his results before arriving for any CMA rehearsals or events.
“Lee would like to thank the CMAs and all of his incredible fans for his nominations and is wishing his fellow nominees an incredible evening celebrating the best of country music,” Brice’s representative said in his statement.
There was no word on who might replace Brice in the show or whether Pearce will still appear on the show, Variety reported.
