Florida couple caught with stolen lamb in pants, seafood in purse, investigators say

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida couple was caught stealing from a Costco after stuffing lamb down their pants and fish, clams and crab legs into a purse, investigators said.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said a witness on Thursday saw Vito Gentile, 76, fold a package of halibut in half and place it in his wife Lucrezia Gentile’s purse, WBBH reported. Deputies also later found clams and crab legs in her purse.

Vito Gentile was also seen placing a rack of lamb down his pants. The couple, who live part time in Florida and New York, walked through the store, then paid for several items and left.

Deputies later stopped the couple and found the lamb in Vito’s pants and the seafood in Lucrezia’s purse. The stolen items were valued at $146.97.

The couple was arrested and charged with retail theft, according to arrest records.
