JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was killed in a shooting following an argument at a park on Moncrief Road, says the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to JSO, officers responded to Moncrief Road in reference to a shooting around 5:50 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
JSO says they learned that there was a group at the park playing basketball. At one point, the victim and suspect began to argue, and the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim before leaving the scene.
Multiple witnesses were detained at the scene, and a suspect was identified and taken into custody a short distance away from the scene.
JSO says detectives with the JSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are on scene collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to determine the circumstances that led up to this shooting.
