Spacey, 62, did not enter a formal plea but his lawyer said his client “strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case,” The Associated Press reported.

The actor was given unconditional bail after his lawyer told the court that Spacey will have to travel to the U.S. for work and to see family, CNN reported.

Spacey will be back in court on July 14 for a plea and trial preparation, BBC News reported.

Spacey, whose real name is Kevin Spacey Fowler, is accused of several charges including four counts of sexual assault stemming from alleged incidents in 2005, 2008 and 2013.

Police questioned Spacey in 2019 after several men accused the “House of Cards” actor of assault while he was the artistic director of The Old Vic Theatre in London from 2004 through 2015, the AP and BBC News reported.

Spacey, who had won Oscars for his roles in “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty,” quickly lost his popularity and roles in 2017 after actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of assaulting him at a party in the 1980s. At the time of the alleged assault, Rapp was a teen.

Spacey returned to acting this past year, CNN reported.
