MIAMI — A toddler was shot and killed when gunfire erupted at a child’s birthday party in Miami over the weekend, authorities said.
According to WFOR-TV and The Associated Press, the deadly shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday at a vacation rental home near North Miami Avenue and Northeast 158th Street. Miami-Dade police said a dispute outside the home resulted in gunfire, which struck 3-year-old Elijah LaFrance and a 21-year-old woman, WFOR reported.
LaFrance later died at a nearby hospital, while the woman remains in stable condition, according to WFOR.

Investigators have not released any details about the suspected shooter, who fled the scene after the incident, the AP reported.
