An Ohio man is accused of shaking his 3-week-old son so severely that the child is suffering from brain damage, authorities said.
Nicholas Blaze Beckford, 22, of Toledo, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felonious assault, endangering children and an attempt to commit an offense, according to online records at the Lucas County Corrections Center.
Beckford appeared in municipal court Wednesday, where a judge set bail at $250,000, The Blade of Toledo reported. Beckford also was ordered not to have contact with the victim, the newspaper reported.
According to charging documents, Beckford shook the baby, causing severe brain damage and bleeding in his eyes, WTVG reported.
The infant was taken to an area hospital, The Blade reported. His condition was not available Wednesday, according to the newspaper.
