Surfside condo collapse: Police ID 3 more victims; official death toll remains 11

SURFSIDE, Fla. — Search and rescue crews uncovered the body of an 11th victim Monday after a beachfront condo building collapsed in Surfside, Florida, last week, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava confirmed during a news conference.

Update 11:04 p.m. EDT June 28: Officials with the Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed late Monday the identities of three more victims who died in the building collapse, meaning all 11 confirmed dead have now been publicly identified.

The latest victims include 52-year-old Marcus Joseph Guara, whose body was discovered Saturday. Police also identified Frank Kleiman, 55, and Michael David Altman, 50, both of whose bodies were found Monday, police stated.

Original report: “Here we are, approaching the end of day five, and the search and rescue continues,” Cava said, noting 136 people have been accounted for, but 150 people believed to have been inside Champlain Towers South when it collapsed have still not been located.

“These numbers are very fluid and will continue to change,” Cava said.

No survivors have been pulled from the rubble since Thursday, the day that half of the 13-story building collapsed, The New York Times reported.

Authorities have identified eight people who died in the building collapse, which was reported around 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, as: Stacie Dawn Fang, 54; Antonio Lozano, 83; Gladys Lozano, 79; Manuel LaFont, 54; Leon Oliwkowicz, 80; Luis Bermudez, 26; Anna Ortiz, 46; and Christina Beatriz Elvira, 74.
