2021 NFL Draft: Jacksonville’s own Mac Jones picked by the New England Patriots

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — While all eyes in Jacksonville were on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who was picked No. 1 overall by the Jaguars in the NFL Draft, there was also another name to listen for in the first round on Thursday night: Mac Jones.

The Bolles School alum was selected by the New England Patriots with the 15th pick.

Jones led Alabama to the College Football Championship last season and while at Bolles, Jones led the Bulldogs to the state championship game in 2016.

He was originally committed to Kentucky, but ultimately decided to bet on himself by flipping to Alabama.

It took some time, but he waited his turn to be starting quarterback. Last season, he threw for 41 touchdowns as he and the Crimson Tide won the National Championship.
