Jaguars fire offensive coordinator after team's seventh consecutive loss

Nathaniel Hackett (Jacksonville Jaguars)

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator, the team said Monday.

ON TV: Colts at Jaguars, 1 p.m. Sunday, CBS47

The injury-plagued Jaguars have lost seven consecutive games, including a 24-21 loss on Sunday to the Bills.

Hackett, 39, had worked for the Jaguars since 2015, rising from quarterbacks coach to offense coordinator.

“These are always tough decisions, but as the head coach, I have to do what I think is best for this football team," Jaguars couch Doug Marrone said.

BLAKE BORTLES: I paid my brother's tuition with my first NFL paycheck

The Jaguars are averaging only 17.9 points per game, which ranks 28th in the NFL.

Quarterback Blake Bortles has struggled this season (13 TDs, 10 interceptions, 81.9 quarterback rating) and is on pace to throw his fewest touchdowns since his rookie season. Bortles had only 127 yards passing vs. Buffalo.

The Jaguars' seven-game losing streak is their longest since the 2016 season, when they dropped nine in a row.

This is a developing story. Watch CBS47 at Noon for the latest.
