JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s no secret just how good Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington was to close out the 2025 season.
When December arrived, so did Washington. Across the last five weeks, playoff game included, Washington amassed 29 receptions for 507 yards and three touchdowns. Those five games included three 100+ yard games.

When the Jaguars needed him most, Washington delivered some of the biggest games in recent memory at the position. It wasn’t just his late game play either, he consistently made plays on third downs and deep inside the redzone.
He might just be the clutchest receiver in the NFL.
Looking at third downs, there might not be a better receiver in the NFL. He didn’t have the targets some other receivers did, but Washington was other-worldly efficient.
His yards per route (3.4) and yards per reception (22.1) ranked first and third in the NFL last season. His explosiveness gave the Jaguars’ offense the big play threat they sorely missed early on in the year, ranking second in explosive yards (264) and third in explosive play rate (25.8%) on third down.
What was truly exceptional about Washington was his ability to create after the catch. Not only did he lead the NFL in yards after the catch per reception (9.4) on third down, his +106 YAC over expectation ranked eighth among all receivers at the position on all downs.
No player gained more YAC over expectation in a single game than Washington’s +70 against the Denver Broncos, per the NFL’s NextGenStats.
Early on, Washington, along with seemingly everybody else, had a case of the dropsies. Prior to the bye, Washington had an alarming 19.0% drop rate. After the bye, he cut it down to just 4.7%, hauling in over twice as many contested catches over the period as well.

This, in addition to Jakobi Meyers’ reliable hands, provided Lawrence the stability and reliability he so needed across the first eight weeks of the season. Suddenly, the Jaguars’ weakness early on became a strength. Between the two, they also caught 29 of 50 contested targets on the season.
It isn’t just his prowess on offense either, he’s just as dangerous as a returner. In fact, he already holds the Jaguars’ franchise record for most punt return touchdowns with three, not including his one called back this past season against the Rams.
In classic clutch fashion, his return against the 49ers was likely make or break for the division title. Without it, the Jaguars likely lose the game and thus the AFC South. His 14.0 yards per punt return last season ranked sixth best, while his two touchdowns tied for the NFL lead.

This level of play and growth doesn’t just happen by accident. Washington’s work ethic is second to none. Several Jaguars’ players have talked about trying to be the first one in the building, but ultimately have waved the white flag and yielded to Parker Washington.
“I wake up at 4:30, leave by 4:50, get here anywhere between 4:55 and 5, and then I’m starting right when I get here. Quick change, right on the FaceTime with my trainer for prep, and then if we have our lift, right to the lift,” Washington said.
It’s this insane work ethic that is why he’s looked so good early on in training camp and has led him to be among the clutchest players in the NFL. Washington puts in the work and when the team needs him most, that hard work pays off.
