Water conditions deemed “life-threatening” at local beaches in Northeast Florida

Jacksonville Beach, FL. — Extreme weather continues in Northeast Florida as the Nor’easter takes its toll on our coast.

There is a wind advisory and flood warning in effect for the entire coast and the St. Johns River basin, according to the Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team.

Action News Jax reporter, Meghan Moriarty, first showed you high tides and rough rip currents on Saturday when winds were just starting to pick up at 20-25 mph.

On Sunday the First Alert Weather Team is predicating gusts up to 50 mph.

Several beachgoers came out to walk the beach and check out the waves, some body surfers even took a tip.

Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue lifeguards are asking everyone to stay out of the water, even surfers.

They’re calling conditions life-threatening and warn of strong rip currents.

They will be patrolling the beaches into Tuesday morning.

They advise that if you see someone in distress, call 911.

Do not try to go into the water and help.
