‘The Women’ show to be performed in St. Augustine during Women’s History Month

The Women is a show that highlights the struggle and strength for International Women’s Day.

Flagler College said the following about the show in a press release:

Set in the 1930s, the play tells the story of Mary Haines, a New York City socialite, who discovers her husband is having an affair. Mary must decide whether to feign ignorance and save her marriage or divorce her husband and allow her rival to replace her. True to its name, “The Women” is an entirely female cast. Although the script calls for 35 speaking parts, the Theatre Arts department was able to cast 20 students, with some playing as many as four different parts. The play can be a challenge to produce, due to its large cast and many locations, but Program Director for Theatre Arts, Paul Denayer, designed a set to accommodate the scope of the play. “The issues these women face are timeless,” said Elaina Wahl-Temple, resident artist and director of the show. “The script is full of strong women facing difficult challenges and rising to meet them.”

The show will run on March 4-7 at 7:30 pm. and March 8 at 2 p.m. at the Lewis Auditorium located at 14 Granada Street in St. Augustine.

Tickers are $15 and can be purchased at https://flagler.universitytickets.com/ or at the Lewis Auditorium box office.
