20-year-old man sentenced to life in prison

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Joshua Dukes, 20, was sentenced to life in prison with a 25 year minimum mandatory on Monday.

Dukes was convicted of second-degree murder and aggravated assault in July for the 2013 murder of Wesley Bridges, 36.

An investigation revealed that Bridges and another victim were waiting for a ride outside at a Barnes Road apartment complex when Dukes and two others approached them.

Dukes shot Bridges multiple times. He later died at the hospital from his injuries.

Co-defendant Roteia Hutchinson pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery. Two other co-defendants, Jarquavis Davis and Eltonia Humpries pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the case.
