A Georgia representative is apologizing for his behavior on a recorded cable show

A local Georgia representative is under fire for how he behaved on the cable show “Who is America” with Sacha Baron Cohen.

There are calls for Jason Spencer to resign after he dropped his pants and used the N word.

Spencer made an appearance in a recorded segment on comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's controversial new Showtime series, "Who is America?"

Spencer repeatedly yelled the N word and other racial and ethnic slurs and dropped his trousers after Cohen pretended to be a fake Israeli anti-terrorism expert.

"He didn't need to do that. He didn't need to go that far," said Weslie Steele, who looked shocked as she looked at the video of her representative.

"No, that wasn't funny. I don't like that at all," she said.

Georgia’s governor didn’t think it was funny, either. He wrote, “There is no excuse for this type of behavior, ever, and I am saddened and disgusted by it.” Other lawmakers called Spencer a disgrace to Georgia and called on him to resign immediately.

Spencer did send this statement to our sister station in Atlanta:

"Sacha Baron Cohen and his associates took advantage of my paralyzing fear that my family would be attacked... As uncomfortable as I was to participate, I agreed to, understanding that these ‘techniques’ were meant to help me and others fend off what I believed was an inevitable attack… I deeply regret the language I used at his request… I apologize to my family, friends, and the people of my district for this ridiculously ugly episode.”
