Michael Dunn Guilty: 'Jordan has received his justice'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tears flowed from the eyes of Lucia McBath after learning a jury found Michael Dunn guilty for the first-degree murder of her son, Jordan Davis.

"We know that Jordan has received his justice, we know that Jordan's life and legacy will live on for others," said McBath.

Adding to the legacy, McBath said she wants the world to know Jordan was "raised with love, he was raised with learning, he was raised with a great foundation and a love for God."

McBath remembered a story that her sister told her about Jordan, who had thanked his aunt for praying for him often.

"One day everybody is going to know who I am," Jordan's aunt told McBath.

Jordan's father thanked Jacksonville for standing up like soldiers for Jordan Davis.

"I wanted Jacksonville to be a shining example that you could have a jury made up of mostly white people, white men, to be an example to the rest of the world to stop the discriminatory practices," said Ron Davis.

Davis said he would mind visiting Dunn in prison, just once, if Dunn wanted to.  At the very least, Jordan's parents plan to be at his sentencing later this month.

"I want to hear with my own two ears that Michael Dunn will go to prison and how much time he will spend in prison," said Ron Davis, on the steps of the Duval County Courthouse, about an hour after the jury found Dunn guilty for killing Jordan Davis.

Judge Russell Healey set a hearing for Oct. 7 to set a sentencing date.  The judge said he'd like to sentence Dunn for all his charges on Oct. 17.
