These major changes are coming to Walt Disney World’s theme park reservation system

ORLANDO, Fla. — Reserving a spot at Walt Disney World theme parks will soon be a thing of the past for some guests, Action News Jax sister station WFTV in Orlando reports.

Disney announced Monday that theme park reservations for date-based tickets will no longer be required with park visits on Jan. 9, 2024.

Guests with a date-based ticket will only have to select a start date for Jan. 9, 2024 or later, complete their purchase and then will be all set, Disney said.

Theme park reservations may still be required for other admission types such as non-dated tickets, Disney said.

Disney also announced the introduction of “good-to-go days” for annual passholders and cast members in 2024. On select days, passholders and cast members can visit Disney parks without needing a park reservation.

Disney also announced plans for “simplifying” the Disney Genie+ experience. Specifics will be given at a later date.
