Gainesville driver fell asleep behind the wheel at Taco Bell drive-thru arrested

John Hopwood was arrested on a drunken driving charge.

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — A 25-year-old man was arrested after police say he feel asleep in a Taco Bell drive-thru.

Police responded to a Taco Bell on Northwest 13th Street after receiving a call that a man was passed out behind the wheel at a drive-thru speaker box.

A witness told police that the driver,  John Hopwood, was woken up and asked to park in the parking lot to wait for food. However, the witness said he didn’t order any food.

Officers arrived and found Hopwood sleeping behind the wheel in the parking lot with the car running.

Police said Hopwood was promptly tested and arrested on a drunken driving charge.
