JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Neighbors in a Westside neighborhood say they had no running water for nearly 24 hours, because of an electrical issue.
They do not get their water from JEA; instead they rely on a small utility company called Normandy Village Utility Company.
Warren Abernathy said when he called the company, he didn’t get the answers he needed.
“I have a 5-month-old, a 4 year-old and my wife’s nephew is here. So it’s hot … I didn’t have any water, couldn’t wash baby bottles or anything,” said Abernathy.
He is not alone in his frustration. Dozens of people shared their outraged on social media and called the Action News Jax newsroom to complain.

We looked into the company’s background with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The state said the company followed protocol during the outage. They reported it to the state. A spokesperson also said the company’s permits are up to date and its water is clean.
Late Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson from the water company responded to the complaints and said they had issues with keeping up with calls because all of the calls tied up the lines.
The spokesperson said workers “didn’t go home” until the issue was resolved.
