Jacksonville motorcyclist dies in Nassau County crash

A Jacksonville man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Nassau County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday, a motorcyclist identified as Daniel James Walton, 34, was traveling south on Blackmon Road, when he ran off the roadway and struck a mailbox, troopers said.

FHP said Walton was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Walton was not wearing a helmet, according to FHP.
