While Action News Jax reporter Alicia Tarancon was at the scene working to get information as to what happened from police, neighbors approached her asking why police were in the neighborhood. They told Tarancon they are concerned that JSO is not being transparent.
JSO told Tarancon that they were not going to hold a news conference on the situation and said the incident didn’t qualify for it.
A neighbor said she heard gunshots in the neighborhood, but every other neighbor Tarancon spoke with said they didn’t hear anything.
Action News Jax is working to learn if a shooting occurred. JSO said they plan to release a statement. We’ll update the story as soon as we receive it.

According to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office crime map, at least 10 different crimes happened in the last four weeks about a half mile from Jefferson Road. At least half of those crimes were assault cases.
Police are no longer expected to hold a news conference as previously reported. The sheriff’s office is expected to release a written statement.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
