10-year-old's dirt bike stolen from Atlantic Beach yard

An Atlantic Beach family reported their 10-year-old son’s dirt bike stolen the day after he got it.

Angela Price said the dirt bike was stolen right out of their front yard.

She said it was strapped into the bed of their pickup truck.

“It’s sort of like taking dreams away from a kid,” said the boy’s mother.

After practicing on a slower bike since Christmas, Price Thorp’s parents got him a much faster KTM 65 SX so he could fulfill his dream of racing.

For $2,000, the used dirt bike was a great deal.

When asked how excited Thorp was about the bike, he said, “On a scale from one to 10, about a 55.”

The bike was only his for less than a day.

“I woke up the next day and it was gone,” Thorp said. “I got to ride it once, but that’s it.”

Price is asking the public to keep an eye out for the orange and blue dirt bike with a “Gizmo Mods” stickers on the handlebars and seat.

“I want people to know that there’s always hope because we can find this bike. I’m hoping that we can find it. And never give up. If you want something to happen, make it happen,” Thorp said.

Price said her family is offering a reward.

Those who know anything about what happened are urged to contact Atlantic Beach Police at 904-247-5859.
