JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A moving company is looking for college students to fill 100 jobs that pay $13 to 15 per hour.
Bellhops, a tech-enabled moving company, is accepting applications ahead of peak moving season, which is from June to August.
Bellhops has been referred to as “Uber for moving” because jobs are claimed on a smartphone app that is similar to Uber’s.
Bellhops employees are contracted for small- to medium-sized moves, which are booked over the phone or on the Bellhops website.
Bellhops workers are notified about available jobs through their app and jobs are assigned on a first-come first-served basis.
Bellhops movers undergo background checks and take part in video interviews.
Customers and co-workers rate their Bellhops.
Students from Jacksonville University, University of North Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville work as Bellhops, according to the company.
