Two dozen nurses at a Jacksonville hospital are pregnant or have given birth in the last few months.
The baby boom is happening in the NICU at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
"We spend all day with (babies), then we go home and have our own. It’s really great,” nurse Caroline Opacak said.
She is more than halfway through her pregnancy and said she can't wait to meet her little boy.
A total of 24 nurses in the NICU are either pregnant or have just given birth during the last six months.
Jennifer Southall, the perinatal nursing director at Woflson, tells Action News Jax that the overlapping pregnancies will not affect staffing.
She said with a staff of 160 nurses, there are already plans in place to cover for those out caring for their new additions.
24 nurses within one unit at @WolfsonChildren Hospital sharing pregnancies around the same time. I went to the hospital to get the story and I’ll have it on @ActionNewsJax at 5. https://t.co/XhlJ1C3zu6 pic.twitter.com/RVdJJlrcZG
