On Oct. 13, Sulzbacher, the largest provider for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Northeast Florida, will cut the ribbon on their newest project.
Partnering with Everybody Solar, a nonprofit that assists in solar energy for other nonprofits, Sulzbacher will power its Sulzbacher Village, saving on energy costs.
“The solar panels will allow us to use more of our funding for the desperately needed services we provide, such as meals and healthcare”, said Cindy Funkhouser, president and CEO of Sulzbacher. “This saves money and allows us to lessen our carbon footprint.”

Sulzbacher provides shelter and healthy meals for its residents and connects over 7,000 individuals to medical services each year. Being able to use energy-efficient technology like solar panels, the nonprofit can direct funding to other services for people experiencing homelessness in Jacksonville.
“Everybody Solar is proud to team up with this incredible organization,” said Myriam Scally, Everybody Solar executive director. “We are honored to provide a sustainable and cost-saving energy source. Sulzbacher’s facilities will be powered by the strong Florida sunshine–allowing staff to focus on taking care of residents instead of the electric bill,” said Scally.
The ceremonial ribbon cutting on new solar panels for Sulzbacher village will take place on Oct. 13th.
