JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An attorney for the widow of Jared Bridegan, a Microsoft executive killed in an alleged murder-for-hire plot, lauded his team online this weekend for an appeals victory granting a 3-day stay on admitting Kirsten Bridegan’s phone as evidence in a murder trial.
A judge on Friday had rejected objections by Kirsten Bridegan’s attorney Jason Gonzalez, but Gonzalez posted on Facebook Saturday that an appeals court found in his team’s favor to exclude the phone for three days while lawyers argue the motion further.
“The appellate court granted our petition,” Gonzalez posted. “Defense attorneys have relentlessly sought to seize Kirsten’s phone to go on a fishing expedition.”
Gonzalez thanked his team for winning the petition.
Defense attorneys are seeking the phone so it could be reviewed for specific, relevant data to help Shanna Gardner’s defense team.
Gardner is scheduled to be on trial beginning August 31 for allegedly conspiring to have her ex-husband - who later married Kirsten Bridegan - killed back in 2022.
On trial now is Mario Fernandez, who is Gardner’s husband. Fernandez is accused of assisting in the murder plot.
