#BlackoutTuesday: Role of social media in today’s social movement

U.S.A. — If you have scrolled through social media Tuesday, you may have noticed many of your feeds were filled with black squares with the hashtag Blackout Tuesday.

It was started by two black women in the music industry to pause and have a meaningful conversation about what’s been going on across the country.

Local businesses have joined the social media movement, including The Florida Theatre.

Action News Jax spoke with a local sociology professor tonight, to break down the role social media is playing in today’s social movement.
