BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. — The National Weather Service will soon survey what could’ve been a possible tornado that touched down in southern parts of Bradford County Christmas Eve.

Residents on Griffis Loop saw heavy damage from strong winds.

Bradford County Emergency Management said at least four homes took on damage and displaced families.

The Red Cross is now assisting residents to find a place to stay.

“The roar. It was like a train. My brother hollered something is wrong, get in the house. Within seconds it had hit,” Kim Griffis said

Their house was spared, but a pecan tree came crashing down onto their barn.

“We’re all okay, the house is fine. Animals are fine, it can all be repaired so we’re good.”

Emergency management said they responded to about 25 calls in a matter of three hours around 6:30 Thursday night.

The First Alert Weather Team said winds reached 60 miles per hour in some neighborhoods.

Lt. Brad Witt with emergency management said there were no injuries.
