ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE JULY 14 11:30 AM: A pilot flying a small single engine plane was practicing emergency drills over a field at the time of the crash, FHP says. Due to pilot error the plane crashed into the field and overturned onto its roof. Both occupants of the plane were uninjured.

UPDATE JULY 14 10:30 AM: The incident commander reports neither of the two people on board the single-engine plane were injured. There are also no reported fuel leaks or other hazards.
Federal aviation officials in Jacksonville have been notified. The plane was reportedly from a flight school flying out of the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine.
The FAA said in a statement:
A Cessna C172 aircraft made a forced landing in a field in Elkton, Fla., about 9:30 a.m. today. There were two people on board. The FAA will investigate.

There has been a second small plane crash today, this one on Canal Road and CR-305 in the Hastings area, according to SJSO.
