UPDATE AUG. 11 AT 8:30 AM:
At about 6:35 a.m. Sunday, a car was traveling north on Moncrief Road West and approached the CSX railroad track on Federal Street, JSO says.

During this time, an Amtrak train was crossing the track, but the driver of the small car was unable to stop in time. The car hit the train relatively hard, according to police
The vehicle hit between the first two cars of the train, and the impact spun the car back off the tracks.The train is believed to have been going about 45 miles per hour, police say.

The interior of the car was perfectly fine, and the driver had no injuries.
"It was a happy ending to a really bad accident," Sgt. Terry Jones said. "If it would have been a half a second more, we'd have a different conversation. It would have been a bad day."
Amtrak said in a statement:
On Sunday, Aug.11, at approx. 6:28 a.m. ET Amtrak Silver Star train 91, which was traveling from New York to Miami, came into contact with a vehicle obstructing the tracks at a crossing located approx. two miles north of the Jacksonville Station (JAX). One locomotive sustained some damage; however, the train was able to proceed to JAX and will continue on the remainder of the trip with another locomotive. There were no injuries reported to the 218 passengers or crew members on board. The Amtrak Police Department is cooperating with local law enforcement in Jacksonville to investigate the incident.
CSX said in a statement:
There was no damage to the track. CSX appreciates the swift response of Jacksonville Sheriff's office. Incidents like these are preventable and underscore the need for motorists to pay attention and heed all posted advance warning signs when approaching a highway rail grade crossing.
A train crash has been reported at Moncrief Road West and Federal Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
