Burglar's blood links him to crime, St. Johns deputies say

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said a burglar’s blood linked him to the crime nearly two years after the incident.

Deputies said 33-year-old Travoris Bolden broke into the AT&T store on State Road 16 in November 2016.

The report said investigators found several blood droplets and red smudge marks located on the glass and doorframe, which were then collected as evidence.

The swabs were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Laboratory for testing in the national database.

In June 2018, the laboratory report was returned to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said during a search of the Combined DNA Index System, the DNA collected at the scene matched with Bolden’s sample.

The report also said the DNA profile collected at the cellphone store was a match to the DNA profiles found in three burglary cases being worked by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

In August, Bolden was arrested in Duval County after JSO said they matched his DNA with blood found at the scene of a 2016 burglary at Axis Vapor Lounge on Old St. Augustine Road.

The arrest report said a large amount of vapor equipment was stolen.

Police said they recovered a pair of white and black gloves from outside of the business and submitted the evidence to FDLE for DNA analysis, which linked Bolden to the burglary.

When questioned by police, Bolden admitted that he had been in various vapor stores, but he did not remember burglarizing the business. He told police he had no idea how his blood was found at the scene.
