Chaos and calls for help after fireworks were thrown inside St. Augustine movie theater

ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. — St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to Epic Theatres in St. Augustine for multiple reports of an explosion inside an occupied movie theatre.

Action News Jax first brought you this story when a significant law enforcement response was initiated. It was determined three male subjects lit at least two ground-to-air fireworks inside an occupied theatre.

New 911 calls released paint a picture of the chaos moviegoers endured.

“There were two kids that there fireworks into the movie theater and they’re running in the back right now trying to get away,” one caller said to a 911 operator.

Concern and confusion after St. Johns County deputies said three people were involved in throwing fireworks inside the Epic Movie Theatre.

“A kid just thew a firecracker or something in the middle of the movie,” another 911 caller said.
