A Jacksonville Fair spokesperson told Action News Jax reporter Ryan Nelson fewer than 10 adults and children were injured Saturday after the SkyFlyer ride malfunctioned.
The ride is shut down, and an investigation is underway.
Former NFL player Shawn Hall says his 9-year-old daughter was injured on the ride after it spun out of control.
He says he brought the machine to a halt after the ride’s operator cut the power.

“I ran and got my child,” said Hall. “I grabbed it and it stopped.”
Hall tells us he was terrified by the thought of finding his daughter badly injured.
“Her getting killed, getting hit...” said Hall.
Jax Fair spokesperson Gayle Hart says the Florida Department of Agriculture, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department are investigating the malfunction. She also said none of the injuries were "severe" at the time of the news briefing.
“They’re trying to determine exactly what happened,” said Hart.
Hart says the ride is being sublet to Belle City Amusement Inc. by Midway Rides of Utica based in Central New York.
The Midway Rides of Utica webpage states: “Our rides are inspected daily and weekly by our staff and local inspection agencies.”
Action News Jax Ryan Nelson spoke to owner Dana Peck over the phone, and who said the investigation is ongoing.
The family-owned company offers their thoughts and concerns to those injured and their families, and they’re working to prevent something like this from happening again.
#UPDATE: Fair Spokesperson tells me about 20 people were on the ride. Possibly 5-7 injured, but haven’t confirmed a final number or extent of their injuries. Witnesses say kids were on the ride. @ActionNewsJax @WOKVNews https://t.co/zeH0hhBYqw
