Churches, Private Schools, Law Offices collect Million Dollar PPP Loans

More than 16,000 businesses in NC approved for federal PPP loans (WSOC)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 1,898 different businesses collected Paycheck Protection Program loans from $150,000 to as much as $10 million in Jacksonville. On Monday, the information on these PPP loans were released by the Small Business Administration.

One company that received three of the largest loans were the owners of Applebee’s. Both TLC Central and TLC West, both subsidiaries of T.L. Cannon Cos., received loans in the $5 million to $10 million range. They share the same address in Ponte Vedra. Wisconsin Apple, a different Applebee’s franchise operator in Orange Park, received a loan in the $5 to $10 million range.

The other companies that received a $5 to $10 million PPP loan include:

  • Ameri-Force Craft Services, Inc., a staffing and recruiting company. They left the jobs retained space blank.
  • Enhanced Recovery Company, LLC, a debt collections company. They left the jobs retained space blank.
  • KLS-Martin, LP, a medical equipment supplier that has 336 employees.
  • Nextran Corporation, a truck dealer that has 500 employees.
  • Physicians Group Services PA, a medical practice that has 471 employees.
  • Preservation Home Specialists, Inc., a window and door supplier that has 18 employees.
  • Stein Mart, Inc., a retail department store. They did not specify how many employees they retained.
  • The Ware Group LLC, a wood merchant wholesaler that has 391 employees.
  • Vesta Property Services, Inc., a residential property manager that has 500 employees.

62 Businesses that received a loan were law firm offices. Three law offices requested $2 to $5 million. Those law offices are Farah and Farah, Morgan and Morgan, and Rogers Towers. Morgan and Morgan said they retained 334 employees and Rogers Towers said they retained 131 employees. Farah and Farah did not say how many employees were retained, so that information isn’t available.

Several churches also requested loans. Two churches, Celebration Church of Jacksonville and the Dioceses of St. Augustine, requested $2 to $5 million dollars. Celebration Church of Jacksonville said they retained 239 employees while the Dioceses states they retained 115 employees.

Private and charter schools also requested loans. Episcopal School of Jacksonville, a private college, requested $2 to $5 million. River City Education Services, Inc., a non-profit company that owns the charter program River City Science Academy, received a $2 to $5 million loan. The Bolles School, a private college preparatory day and boarding school, also received a $2 to $5 million loan. Bishop Kenny High School, a private Catholic school, received a $1 to $2 million loan. Edward Waters College, a private historically black college, received $1 to $2 million.
