Suspect surrenders after SWAT standoff on Sandy Hollow Loop, Clay Sheriff says

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE 11:25 a.m.- Sheriff Cook told Action News Jax that the suspect voluntarily surrendered at 11 a.m. Residents from the area should be able to return home around noon.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office is responding to a person firing a weapon on Sandy Hollow Loop in Middleburg.

Deputies have the area closed and are asking residents to evacuate.

Sheriff Cook says a call came around 7 a.m. of someone firing multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect ran inside a house in the Forest Glen Neighborhood. He is still in the house at this time and negotiators are trying to get him to come out.

It is unclear whose house the suspect entered in. According to CCSO, they think he is the only person home.

State troopers, CCSO, crisis negotiation team, SWAT, and Clay County Fire and Rescue is on scene.
