CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office raised $10,000 for Special Olympics athletes during its inaugural golf tournament at Top of the Tee.

The proceeds are designated to help local athletes compete in the State Games. Funding will also support year-round sports training, competition expenses, uniforms, equipment, transportation, and athlete wellness programs.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in, sponsored, and donated to the inaugural tournament. “We’re so grateful to everyone who played, sponsored, donated, and helped make this event such a success,” the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“Your generosity makes a lasting impact, creating opportunities for our Athletes to compete, grow, build confidence, and shine both on and off the field.”Following the golf tournament, the agency announced its next fundraising initiative, Tip-A-Cop.

During the event, law enforcement personnel will work as restaurant staff to collect donations. “CCSO members will serve as wait staff for ‘tips’ - where every dollar raised goes toward our Athletes,” the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said. Patrons will also have opportunities to bid on silent auction items and make direct donations.

The Tip-A-Cop fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 27 through Oct. 29 at the Longhorn Steakhouse in Fleming Island.
