CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Federal and local law enforcement busted a drug lab with explosives and ammunition in Clay County.
An illegal package of prescription drugs led federal agents to this home in the Keystone Heights neighborhood.
Inside, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office says they found a DMT extraction lab along with 2,000 rounds of ammunition, and enough explosives to make seven hand grenades.

There were also children living inside the home. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office confirmed DCF removed them and they weren’t harmed.
“I hate that it happens here and I hate it for the kids,” said neighbor Betty Warren.
She’s been living in this neighborhood for the past five years.
“Anywhere you can get isolated like that house, there’s a good chance you might have something like that going on,” she added.
Deputies arrested 40-year-old Cody Michael Clifford of Alaska in connection to this case.
He faces multiple felony drug charges. CCSO says he’d been living inside the home in Keystone Heights for less than a year.

Neighbors say they suspected something was off, only because they recall seeing cars coming in and out of the driveway every 10 to 15 minutes. But it’s the explosives agents found that really alarmed them.
“That’s really scary. That’s very scary,” Warren said.
“That’s scary,” neighbor Michael Kite repeated. “Whatever that guy’s doing over there, that’s beyond the pale.”
Despite what happened, Kite and Warren say this doesn’t represent their neighborhood.
“We love it out here, we think it’s pretty safe,” Warren said. “Bad people are going to come into good communities.”
