Jacksonville man hit, killed by car on Blanding Boulevard in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said a person was hit and killed by a car on Blanding Boulevard at Spencer Road Friday night.

FHP said around 9 p.m., a SUV driving south on Blanding Boulevard. At the same time, a Jacksonville man, identified by troopers as Harvey Bruner Jr., 54, was attempting to cross Blanding Boulevard in the lanes directly in front of the SUV, and was hit.

Bruner died at the scene and the driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to FHP.

Some lanes were blocked in both directions at the time of the crash.

Update: Northbound lanes are open. Two southbound lanes are blocked for investigation.
