DCPS: Pests found in food at Jacksonville elementary school

Pests were found in students' lunches at a Jacksonville elementary school on Monday.

Crystal Springs Elementary School Principal LaShawn Russ-Porterfield warned parents about the find in a voicemail.

When woman, 89, couldn't live alone anymore, her neighbor did something completely selfless

School officials said a roach was found in a wrapper of a food item.

Russ-Portefield said Chartwells, the school food-service contractor, decided to prepare the meals offsite while the area is being cleaned.

A letter about pests found in the food was also sent home with students.

More Jacksonville residents say they've had men knocking on their doors, asking about home security
