You pay your taxes and you expect your trash will get picked up on schedule.
But thousands of Jacksonville homeowners have complained to the city this year that their trash sometimes sits on their curbs, untouched, for days.
TRENDING:
“Sometimes, it can be annoying and frustrating, especially if, you know, I have trash that’s filled up and I have no room to put anything else,” said Southside homeowner Sophia Kazaleh. “We definitely don’t want animals getting into the trash.”
So far this year, the city of Jacksonville has gotten 3,167 complaints about trash not getting picked up.
That’s less than 2 percent of all trash pickup locations.
Action News Jax reached out to Waste Pro, the contractor that handles Kazaleh’s neighborhood, Windsor Parke.

Waste Pro Senior Vice President Ron Pecora said a national truck driver shortage is to blame for the delays.
Pecora said Waste Pro is training three new drivers for the Jacksonville team right now and adding five new garbage trucks.
“We would definitely like to have the problem resolved,” said Kazaleh.
