Duval County Public Schools is offering a program that allows people without teaching certification to potentially become an elementary school teacher.
The program which is called "Ready, set, teach!" helps prepare interested candidates for the Florida Teacher Certification Exam. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, Sept 6.
Passing the exam makes a candidate eligible for hire at any Duval County elementary school. DCPS then helps candidates obtain professional certification within the first three years.
DCPS said it is looking for adults who understand the importance of early childhood education, need a work schedule that fits their lifestyle, have the energy and excitement to work with children, and have a broad appreciation for a variety of subjects.
