A woman connected to a Nassau County Cub Scout leader arrested earlier this week has now been charged with child neglect.
Alisa Lynn Meredith was arrested five days after Brandon Meredith, who Action News Jax reported Wednesday was accused of repeatedly touching a teen inappropriately.
A Nassau County Sheriff’s Office spokseman told Action News Jax police could not confirm that her arrest is connected to his. However, online records show the two own a home together, and they share the same last name.
The Nassau County arrest report for Alisa Lynn Meredith, obtained by Action News Jax, is heavily redacted, but it includes details that led to her arrest. It says (redaction) had “known about the sexual touching...” and “stated that every time {redaction} had disclosed that {redaction} would tell {redaction} to stop and that it was inappropriate.”
The report lists a felony child neglect charge and says {redacted} failed to make a reasonable effort to protect a child from abuse, neglect or exploitation by another person.
Leticia Baldwin, a Yulee mother of five, lives in the neighborhood where the two co-own a home. She said she had heard about Brandon Meredith’s arrest for his alleged actions with a minor. “It’s just very concerning,” Baldwin said.
Brandon Meredith’s arrest report, which Action News Jax obtained earlier this week, says the victim, a girl, told deputies that “Meredith would frequently touch her chest in an unwanted manner.” She told deputies that on one occasion, Meredith came up and began fondling her chest while she was on FaceTime with a friend.
Baldwin said the details worry her, and the possibility that someone knew and did not intervene worries her even more. “I will definitely be keeping a closer eye on my children,” Baldwin said. “It is very important for everybody to watch out and keep their eyes open for anything.”
Action News Jax is working to learn more about both cases and will provide updates as they become available.
