JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida gained 23,933 new COVID-19 cases and 29 COVID-19-related deaths on Thursday, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Florida is now responsible for nearly 17% of newly reported COVID-19 cases in the U.S.

The average for Florida COVID-19 cases thus far has been 21,375 cases per day and 40 deaths.
Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, Florida hospitals are seeing an influx of patients as well. Florida hospitals reported 15,840 COVID-19 patients on Friday.
