JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The popular, single-dose COVID-19 vaccine is being halted at Jacksonville’s federally supported vaccination sites.
Federal Emergency Management Agency officials said the Gateway Mall vaccination site, as well as its other mobile sites, will immediately pause use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
This comes after U.S. health agencies called for the pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine Tuesday morning “out of an abundance of caution,” as officials investigate reports of blood clots.
Today FDA and @CDCgov issued a statement regarding the Johnson & Johnson #COVID19 vaccine. We are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution.

As of April 12, nearly 7 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in the United States.
The federally supported site is still offering second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates and watch FOX30 for a live report.
Following the recommendation from the CDC for a pause in distribution of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines, FEMA sponsored sites at the Gateway Mall and its hubs have stopped offering that vaccine as of this morning. 2nd doses of Pfizer will still be provided at these sites. pic.twitter.com/7B32PJucP9
