DCPS Teachers return to the classroom to prep for students arrival on August 20

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Public School teachers are back in their classrooms, getting ready for students to arrive on August 20.

Right now, classrooms look the same, but over the next 6 days, they will evolve due to COVID-19 precautions.

Sandalwood High School has given teachers masks and plexiglass shields for their desk. They’re discussing how the school will administer temperature checks and screenings for students and staff. There’s also talk of staggering dismissal.

On Wednesday evening, the district will host an online town hall meeting, coined “Back to School: Dilemma in Backdrop of a Pandemic.”

That starts at 5:30 P.M. on the district’s Facebook page.
