Donate diapers to local babies during National Diaper Need Awareness Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — You can help support local families by donating diapers next week.

Monday kicks off National Diaper Need Awareness Week.

According to the National Diaper Bank Network, diaper need is the “lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep an infant or child clean, dry and healthy.”  Leaders of the national organization say the COVID-19 pandemic has sent the need for diapers skyrocketing as families struggle with unemployment and can’t afford to buy them.

Alvina Tobey is co-founder of Safe Future Foundation.  The local nonprofit operates a diaper bank that provides free diapers and other baby supplies to families in Jacksonville.  Tobey said her organization is trying to collect 12,000 diapers next week.
