EDM events at two Jacksonville venues raise concerns amid pandemic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two Jacksonville venues, River City Brewing Company and Myth Night Club, are all abuzz on social media after videos show clubgoers shoulder-to-shoulder, most of them not wearing a mask.

River City Brewing Company hosted an Electronic Dance Music show last Friday where around 400 attendees were seen close together.

Some in the community are raising concerns about COVID-19 safety.

River City Brewing Company said they’re not in the wrong, they mandated masks indoors but cannot do so outside.

A video on Instagram shows clubgoers at Myth, many without masks. Myth did not confirm nor deny the video, but they said they cannot legally force patrons to wear masks, citing the governor’s move to phase 3 of opening up the state during the pandemic.

The City of Jacksonville has a mandatory mask policy, it applied for public indoor locations and in other situations where individuals cannot socially distance.

Action News Jax reached out to the city to see if they have any reaction to the social media posts, we have not heard back yet.
