Former JSO officer arrested, accused of child sex crimes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a former JSO officer has been arrested and is accused of capital sexual battery, lewd, lascivious molestation on a victim less than 12 and of lewd, lascivious molestation on a victim between the ages of 12 and 15.

The former officer arrested, James M. Trejbal retired from JSO in 1999, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said it believes all potential victims have been identified.

The Sheriff’s Office full release reads:

"The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is working on a sexual battery investigation that has led to the arrest of suspect, James M. Trejbal, a former police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office who retired in 1999. This investigation identified numerous incidents involving multiple victims, spanning many years. In late December 2019, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was notified of possible sexual offenses that reportedly occurred years prior. As a result of the investigation into these concerns, additional victims were discovered and recent sexual offenses were identified.

"James Trejbal’s arrest includes 2 counts of Capital Sexual Battery, 11 counts of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation on a victim less than 12 and 4 counts of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation on a victim 12-15.

“At this time, we believe all potential victims have been identified.
